A very practical guide to developing a strong prayer life.

Prayer may be the one area of faith that confuses the most people. Ask 100 people to define prayer and you'll get 100 different answers. Yet prayer remains a powerful symbol to most people. For some it is an acknowledgement that there is indeed a higher power upon whom we can call;for others it is indeed an intimate conversation with the God who is there.
Peter Lord brings the concept of prayer down to the level of everyday life and offers a practical guide to both understanding and practicing prayer. The book does not treat prayer as some mystical, inward-looking experience, but as a real conversation with a real God who listens and speaks to us.
Much of what Lord writes will have little meaning unless one believes in the God of the Holy Bible and accepts His son, Jesus Christ as Savior. Lord is undoubtedly focusing his ideas to those who want to strengthen their relationship with the God in whom they already believe.

As a weaver, this text is helping me understand both the "what" & "why" of such things as warping & designing, as well as the total weaving process.What were before a series of steps to be mechanically followed,as in warping, now make sense in a grand way. This text has allowed me to begin "taking control" of the overall weaving process. It is giveing me the confidence to venture beyond previous limits & repititions of "The Known". Great for your reference library

Alderman is one of those rare combinations of artist AND teacher. The photographs grab you first. The charts are clear. The explanations are detailed enough for beginners. The various weave structures are charted for 2-, 3-, 4- 6-, 8-, and more-harnesses, as each structure may allow. Those new to weaving might find the directions less intimidating if they read the first two chapters before skimming the later chapters; the explanations will make more sense. This is a good boost to your creativity as well as a source to better understand weave structures.

I had flipped through this book several times and did not purchase it. However, a friend loaned me her copy as we were studying Summer and Winter weave. Sharon Alderman is chosen to judge lots of weaving shows because she really knows structures and can explain them clearly in few words. This book is great. I have a better understanding of this particular weave structure and can't wait to read the rest of the book. Gerry Woodhouse

This is a wonderful book to have in your home. It's great to be able to take books out of the library, but having the book in your home gets read more and looked at more. The topics are broken up into small catagories and easier to understand and learned in bits and pieces. Great illustrations also. This includes trusted websites so that if they want to find out more about a topic, they will know where to find it. I even learned a lot from it. It's very interesting reading. You are never too old to learn more.

Good pictures, could use more terms

I purchased this as a reference for my high school biology class. Sometimes it's nice to throw a book at the students who just want to Google everything. Of course we do Google all the time, but forcing them to look something up sometimes is satisfying and the images/diagrams are good. I just wish it was a bigger book with more terms.

Ever since my boyfriend and I started dating, we've been doing the study guide together. We love the discussion it presents for us--despite how uncomfortable it can be sometimes, it's awesome because it forces us to open up and be honest about some perspectives and see what God has to say on it all. It's been really edifying for us to talk to our friends about some things. We've even gotten other couples to start it and so it makes for a good transparent group to be accountable with. Very thankful for it. God has this book to really reveal a lot of His design for us.

Great study for couples

Great study for couples. It doesn't matter if you are a Christian, non-Christian, single, newly married, or married for 50 years, this study has great application for all. I definitely recommend the DVD also. Matt Chandler will keep you entertained while teaching life application for a healthy Godly marriage or prepping for that marriage you want in the future. If you want to know what God has intended for your marriage look no further.

It does not parse the Scripture like Tommy Nelson did in his “Song of Solomon” study but had more application. If you are looking to really dig into the details of each verse I’d highly recommend Tommy Nelson over this.

Note: You need to get the DVDs to follow along with the study guide. This book doesn't follow the actual book very well. With that said it was a good book for my husband and I to go through together it offered some good questions and I would say we enjoyed it overall.

Power of One/Tandia = top shelf!

When a friend said that "The Power of One" was one of her favorite books, I had to borrow it. Since reading it, I've bought it or recommended it to at least a dozen friends, and all of them feel the way I do about the book: it's one of the best books we've ever read!! When I finished I was sad because I had come to feel so close to the main character and storyline that I wanted more. I was ecstatic to discover that there was a sequel-- "Tandia". I have one very well worn/read copy of this book circulating in another state with friends/relatives and I may not get it back. Somehow through all of these recommendations and purchases I had never bought the book for myself, so seeing this version of the two books in one, I had to have it for my own library. I NEVER read a book twice-- there are too many good books out there to read to do this, but I wanted this book in my library because I plan to read it again and again over the years. It's that good!

In the book Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Snowy Day Mystery Cam, Eric and Danny try to find the thieves of the three stolen computers. I enjoyed this book because I like mysteries.When Cam finds out who the thieves are I felt excited. I would give this book 4 stars because the book has almost every thing I like in a book which is (1) action,(3) two main characters, and (4) several ways to solve the mystery. If you like short book with good mysteries you'll love Cam Jansen and the Snowy Day Mystery. by Rebekah

Are you looking to read a mystery book? Then read Cam Jansen and the snowy day mystery, by David A. Adler. When Cam Jansen went to computer class three computers were missing. Some thieves stole it. At least they found two clues. They saw footprints by the window but the window was locked. How did the theieves get inside? To find out read this book.
If you like mystery books, first read Cam Jensen and the snowy day mystery. My favorite part is when she imagines how the thieves got inside and finds two clues. You will like to read it over and over again. When I first read this book I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to read a mystery book go ahead. So go find this mystery book right now!

this was one of the beat cam jansen books I have read. I love the cam jansen books they are a very good mystery series this book is great I loved it.I did not like it because it was kind of confusing but I am giving this book a 5 star rating I think grades 3,4,5,6 would love this series!

The morals put forth are tried and true: practice makes perfect, never be selfish, and respect and treat others as you would yourself. The book is inspiring due to Mia's incredible determination to improve and succeed and, ergo, is motivational. It's an easy read, but I give it 4 stars since it could be more thought provoking regarding life balance and choices for girls. Nonetheless, she is a golden role model. Recommended.

i love this book! Mia Hamm is a great soccer player who knows what shes talking about. i recomend it to anyone who is serious about soccer and wants to learn how to improove thier game. it has pictures about the world cup in 1999 and of her as a kid. it is great for coaches, players, and pretty much anyone. it also tells about mia's life outside of soccer. hanging out with her friends, family, and teammates. overall this is a great book.
